Located in the heart of the Marais, an emblematic district of Paris combining history, fashion and art de vivre, the Hôtel du Petit Moulin occupies the walls of one of the capital’s oldest bakeries. Christian Lacroix has reinterpreted this historic site in a baroque, colorful and theatrical approach. The challenge was to bring this Parisian heritage into dialogue with a singular vision of contemporary design.
The project called for great finesse of execution to adapt to the designer’s aesthetic demands, while respecting the iconoclastic and joyful spirit that animates every nook and cranny of this atypical hotel.
Challenge
We proposed and designed customized furniture, according to requirements, and the various finishes requested (worn patinas, high-gloss lacquers…). We then produced chests of drawers, beds, headboards, bergères and eighteenth-century armchairs chosen by Christian Lacroix.
This project is an immersion in a whimsical, theatrical universe, where each piece of furniture becomes a set element. Working in close collaboration with Christian Lacroix’s creative universe, we designed pieces that combine bold styling with ease of use.
The custom-built pieces sublimated the hotel’s uniqueness by translating the designer’s codes into the language of furniture. Each piece was treated like an objet d’art, crafted with respect for the chosen materials and finishes.
Result
A hotel where each room tells a different story, where design becomes a vector of emotion and strong differentiation. Making-of Studio’s furniture contributes fully to the hotel’s visual and sensorial identity.
